Regular Season Round 5: Caneros - Leones 84-87

The most exciting game of round 5 in the LNB took place in La Romana. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th rankedCaneros (4-5) to eighth ranked Leones (2-6) 87-84 on Thursday evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Leones made 7 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Kerry Richardson (202-1999, college: Morehouse) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Reggie Quezada (190, college: USAO) chipped in 16 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. Richardson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Leones players scored in double figures. Center Corey Boyd (206-1998) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and forward Marvin Smith (198-1995, college: UNCG) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leones maintains eighth place with 2-6 record. Caneros at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost.
